Every figure below traces to a source named at the foot of the article it appears in, with the date it was read. Where something could not be established, the article says so.
England cycled 53 miles per person last year. The number is small, it went up, and almost everything written about cycling explains neither.
The emissions case is settled and has been for years. What decides whether anyone makes the swap is the part nobody publishes a figure for.
Four further articles are planned and not yet written: clothes swapping and resale, home heating, household electricity, and the consumer climate campaigns of the 2000s. They are listed here rather than published early because each one needs figures that have not been retrieved yet.
