The Midnight Rose by Lucinda RileyThis week we’ve had our noses buried in The Midnight Rose by Lucinda Riley

As the old saying goes, opposites attract, and this novel is literary proof of that. Anahita Chavan is 11 years old and comes from an impoverished family. At the height of British rule in India, she forms a lifelong friendship with Princess Indira, who comes from a rich family of royalty. Before the Great War is declared, the pair flee to England. It is here that she meets Donald Astbury, heir to the wealthy Astbury Estate.

The novel spans four generations and, 80 years later, we’re introduced to Rebecca Bradley, a young American film star. One day whilst she’s filming her latest role at Astbury Hall, Anahita’s great-grandson randomly turns up in the hope of discovering his family’s past. With Rebecca’s aid, he discovers some shocking secrets about his family background.

Excellently written, this novel will have your full attention from the off, and leave you wanting to find out more – it was shortlisted for the Epic Novel award at the Romantic Novelists Association Books Awards 2014 for a reason!

And if you fancy bulking up your book collection you’re in for a treat – we have two copies to give away…

/ Be a winner (not a binner) /
/ Turn up the style (not the heat) /
/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
/ Do it in public (not the car/plane) /
