Because getting away from it all doesn’t have to cost the Earth…

The Pineapple DunmoreStill got some holiday left to take at work but can’t afford to go abroad this close to Christmas? Why not ditch the plane and take a Staycation instead? Staycations – holidaying in the UK rather than going further afield – are a great way to take the stress out of your trip. And with so many amazing places to stay in the UK you’ll never want to leave again…

Of all the venues we’ve sent you on a Staycation to this has got to be one of the weirdest. The Pineapple is an elaborate and eccentric summer house built in the shape of a pineapple in the 18th century by Lord Dunmore in Dunmore Park, Scotland. It stands within an amazing walled garden with a stunning private garden at the rear for guests.

Built as a garden retreat for the earl and his wife, the fruit was chosen as it represented the height of gourmet luxury in the 1760s. These days, the peculiar pavilion can be rented out through the Landmark Trust. Check out the pictures now to get an idea of what to expect…

/ Be a winner (not a binner) /
/ Turn up the style (not the heat) /
/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
/ Do it in public (not the car/plane) /
