Because great holidays don’t have to cost the Earth…

What’s all the fuss?
Wacken festival is situated in an area to the north of Germany called Schleswig Holstein (no, we can’t pronounce it either). The festival has been going on for over ten years now and has become more and more popular with the rock fans. This festival is a brilliant opportunity to see all of your favourite heavy metal stars all in one place, and get a cheeky holiday at the same time.
It’s a music and fun filled three days of camping from August 1-5. The genre of the festival is purely rock based, with many stars rocking out to their fans such as Cradle of Filth, Forbidden, Machine Head and The Black Dahlia Murder. There’s also a movie field and sessions of wrestling to watch throughout your time there. Take some time to chill and refresh at their Bavarian beer garden with a frosty pint.
Be sure to check the website for more information and find out how to book your tickets.
Travelling to this festival is easy: Travel to Paris via the Eurostar, then catch the City Night Liner Sleeper to Hamburg. At Hamburg station you will see the metal trains and buses which will take you to the front gate of the festival. There are various shuttle bus services organised all around the area too. With this UK summer being a wash out, what better way to enjoy your summer than partying like a rock star in the sun? Now rock on!
Here’s a little taster of what to expect from the festival…
Here comes the science bit…
All Global Cool articles highlight one of four ways (the one in bold below) to start living greener. Click the links to find out more…
1. Be a winner, not a binner (aka recycling and reusing stuff)
2. Turn up the style, not the heat (aka not charging electrical devices 24/7)
3. Love the trend, not the spend (aka buying stuff that doesn’t harm the planet)
4. Do it in public (aka ditching the car and plane when you can)
