Because ditching the car doesn’t have to cost the Earth…
Boris Johnson has just signed off on a whole load of new segregated cycling superhighways along the Thames (woohoo).
In case you’re out of the loop, Barclays Cycle Superhighways are cycle routes running from outer London into and across central London. They give people safer, faster and more direct journeys into the city and (with London traffic the way it is) are often the quickest way to get to work. Four Superhighways have already launched, with a number of new routes to be opened by 2016.
Our white-haired Mayor said of the scheme: “Getting more people on to their bikes will reduce pressure on the road, bus and rail networks, cut pollution, and improve life for everyone, whether or not they cycle themselves.”
We could agree more Bo Jo!
Here comes the science bit…
GC articles show you one of four ways (the one in bold) to live greener…
/ Be a winner (not a binner) /
/ Turn up the style (not the heat) /
/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
/ Do it in public (not the car/plane) /
