Become an expert archer on Traincation to Brittany

on in Get Involved, Travel

Flying is so yesterday. If you want to avoid expensive taxis and getting perved on by the new airport security checks, then trains are the only way to get around. Whether you’re looking to large it in Latvia or get kinky in Helsinki, Traincation expert Hollie Wicks bring you the the weird and wonderful of European Traincations

This week we are sending you on a break to archer’s heaven for a fun filled week on Traincation in Chateau de Gurat, France…

What’s all the fuss?
Chateau de Gurat has the perfect natural setting for archery; it’s surrounded by trees and has a meandering stream running through it too. Here they have everything that an archer could ever want for. You can start here at any level from a beginner that wants to have a go, to a top level champion archer: they have the perfect facilities and help available whatever your level.

You will meet David who has had 30 years archery experience. He is a former Charente champion and UK master bowman. He’s always available and more than happy to help and tutor throughout your stay.

If you want to experience rural France for more than a day, then there are six self catering holiday cottages available for you to stay at. They date back to the Fifteenth Century and are surrounded by 14 acres of meadows and woodland. Check out the website to book your stay.

Getting there?
Travelling to Chateau de Gurat couldn’t be easier! Catch the TVG fast train from St Pancras, London and change at either Paris or Lille to Angouleme – it really is that simple! You may be wondering why you should get the train. Well, it gives you more of a chance to take in the picturesque surroundings of Southern France, instead of the boring clouds (or sweaty passenger) you get on a plane. So take in the beautiful scenery while the train takes the strain! Visit Loco2 or RailEurope for tickets and help with booking
