We don’t know about you, but the Indian summer in England has really got us in the holiday mood. So why not head over to Vienna for one of our most unusual Traincations yet…
Have you ever seen Turkish wrestling before? No, we didn’t think so. Head on over to Vienna from October 7-9 for the annual Multikultur Festival at Wien Messe. Immerse yourself in Turkish wrestling and chow down on some delicious, traditional, Turkish food. There will also be Ebru art (paper marbling), calligraphy, glass art and sand art. To celebrate the Turkish culture, there will be film screenings, live music and the infamous whirling dervishes (pictured) – a religious dance and musical ceremony, which involves people whirling round and round in long dresses.
Hop on a late morning Eurostar to Paris Gare du Nord and then take the short walk to Gare de l’Est, with enough time to stop off for a croissant or two along the way. Jump aboard the City Night Line sleeper train to Munich from there, and pick a sleeper carriage as the beds are comfy and you get your own washroom. The journey from Munich to Vienna takes around four hours travelling on the Austrian RailJet train, and is fully air-conditioned too.
