Christmas is over for another year, but before you’ve even gobbled your last turkey sandwich, it’s time to start organising the most talked about night in the calendar – New Year’s Eve! We know that planning for New Year’s can be stressful as there’s so much pressure to have a good time, and with so much riding on it, you can be left feeling more deflated than the blow-up Santa on next door’s roof!

Luckily, we’ve put together some helpful tips on how to enjoy your New Year’s party eco style, meaning you can throw a bash which will make everyone green with envy…

Colourful Paper Lanterns

Bunting, Banners and Balloons!
Making the place look sparkly and festive is a sure-fire way to get your guests in the party mood, so why not try eco-decorators Pippi for some beautiful decorations with a green edge. Alongside streamers, banners and place-cards, they also sell these lovely butterfly tea light lanterns, which are a perfect touch for when the clock strikes midnight, and will provide a romantic backdrop for you to whip out the mistletoe and steal a cheeky New Year’s kiss!

Don’t pay to throw away
Why buy a tonne of plastic cups and plates when you’ve already got your own glasses and crockery in the cupboard? Guests are far more likely to hang on to the same glass all night, rather than work their way through countless disposable cups that will have to be thrown away the next day. Not only will you save time on clearing up, but you can also put the money you’ve saved towards a New Year’s Day hangover fry up!

Alternatively, if you have more guests than glasses, Pippi do a great range of eco-friendly cups and plates which are 100% bio-degradable!

Get a hot new look….for free!
It’s the age-old dilemma that has troubled womankind for years: a wardrobe full of clothes but nothing to wear! This year, instead of blowing the little cash you have left over after Christmas on a panic buy in the sales, why not raid a friend’s wardrobe for your party outfit? You are bound to find plenty of  hidden treasures and your friend’s wardrobe can often seem infinitely more exciting than your own. Just make sure you stay off the red wine to avoid any awkward grovelling upon return…

O2 Phone No Signal

Disown your phone
Let’s face it, the majority of us spend the whole year glued to our phones like it’s a third arm. New Year’s Eve is the perfect opportunity to turn it off and just enjoy the company you’re in without any outside distractions. It may seem like a daunting prospect, but the likelihood is the networks will be in gridlock anyway, so why not hit the ‘off’ button, save some battery, and soak up the atmosphere? What’s more, there’s nothing like receiving an influx of well-wishing texts in the morning (well, hopefully!)

And to really get you in the mood, here’s Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt singing a special little New Year’s Eve cover…
