Because changing the way you live doesn’t have to cost the Earth…
Everyone loves to make a list of resolutions in the lead up to the new year. But promises to lose two stone or quit smoking cold turkey are often fleeting ideas once the stress of going back to work and the chilly January weather kicks in. So we’re keeping it nice and easy this year with our top five New Year’s resolutions – a list of simple things you can do that will have a big impact on your life (and Mother Nature too)…
Start planning your summer holiday
We’ve been harping on about Traincations forever, but why not make 2014 the year you give it a go yourself? Make some plans for a summer holiday to remember. Start planning all the places in Europe you’d like to visit and then research the most interesting routes by rail. We have loads of pre-planned journeys if you need inspiration, or why not consider a European InterRail pass so you can visit lots of place in one go?
Lose those pounds, not those pennies
January is apparently one of the hardest months to try to lose weight, especially when there’s often still yummy treats floating around from the holiday period. But how many of us have got tied up in a monthly payment to a gym we never end up going to? Good intentions are not enough to get to the gym sometimes, so we propose picking something a bit different. Why not take up jogging or rollerskating instead? They’re free to do and you can make great new friends by joining local groups too.
Clear out the clutter
We all have a hidden cupboard or drawer full of clutter we’re never going to use but can’t seem to be able to toss. It seems such a hassle to pack up a car and haul ass to the rubbish dump, but there is another way. List all your unwanted goods on Freecycle and if someone wants they they’ll come and collect them for you. Simples!
Be more money savvy
Pinching the pennies doesn’t mean you have to give up the things you love. Changing a few simple thing at home can give you some extra cash to spend on spoiling yourself instead. Swap your light bulbs for energy saving ones and make sure you turn off your TV properly to save a whole pile of pounds. Or try turning your heating down a smidge and throwing on a stylish winter jumper instead.
We really want you all to be happy bunnies, and we’ve worked out a way that you can avoid losing your rag at random strangers and catch up with a bit of me time too. Say goodbye to road rage and opt to Do It In Public instead. Jumping on the bus, tube or train means you can get lost in all the best books and music too – what are you waiting for?
Here comes the science bit…
