Rags to riches! How to get hired by Lord Sugar

Because being an entrepreneur shouldn’t have to cost the Earth…

Alan Sugar

Sir Alan Sugar would never be the first candidate to spring to mind when picking eco celebs. But the outspoken entrepreneur has stepped it up a notch in the green stakes with his latest challenge…

Last week’s new series of The Young Apprentice proved that just about anyone can do a bit of closet recycling. Lord Sugar set his new flock of little ducklings the task of revamping and reselling old discarded clothes.

Raising almost £1,000 of profit between the groups, it was clearly worth the effort. And we loved seeing some quality upcycling on TV too!

Old jumpers and old cardigans can quickly be turned into brand new winter woollies (or even into brand new garments).

From learning how to sew up holes properly and having a go at natural dying, to jazzing up old cardies with studs and pom-poms – the possiblities to turn something old and drab into something new and fab are endless!

And if you do it right you might just get hired as Lord Sugar’s Apprentice!

You Tube is full of stitchtastic tutorials to get you started…

So why not give it a try? Update something for yourself, or even make someone an inexpensive Christmas present!
