The red carpet goes green at the Golden Globes! Emma Watson, Cate Blanchett and Rashida Jones dazzle in ethical fashion

Because looking amazing doesn’t have to cost the Earth…

We’ve been fans of Livia Firth’s Green Carpet Challenge – an initiative designed to raise ethical fashion’s profile on the red carpet – for quite a while now. So you can imagine our delight we saw some great support from celebs on the red carpet at the Golden Globes recently too. Cate Blanchett wore some beautiful wreath-shaped earrings (made through a collaboration between Eco Age and Chopard). The earrings were made out of Fairtrade gold and held 72 Responsible Jewellery Council-certified marquise-cut diamonds. She also won her third Golden Globe… we like to think about it as karma.

We’d also like to give a big high-five to Rashida Jones (that really hot chick from I Love You Man). The Parks and Recreations star sported a lovely cruelty-free clutch by Jill Milan at the Golden Globes. In fact the LA designer had elegant evening bags all over the red carpet with Scandal‘s Katie Lowes and actress Bryce Dallas Howard clutching onto Jill Milan bags too (we’re very sorry about the pun).

OK, so technically we know this wasn’t at the Golden Globes but we also wanted to give a bit of kudos to Emma Watson for modelling Net-a-Porter’s Green Carpet Challenge Collection at the tail end of last year. When Livia Firth asked Hermione Granger to model the gorgeous collection of gowns by the likes of Christopher Kane, Roland Moulet, Victoria Beckham, Erdem, and Burberry’s Christopher Bailey, the 23-year-old didn’t have to be asked twice. In a recent interview, Watson said “I was like, ‘No one’s doing anything like this!’ It’s so exciting.” We’re glad she’s as pumped as we are!

Check out Livia Firth in action now. What a little hero…

GC articles show you one of four ways (the one in bold) to live greener…

/ Be a winner (not a binner) /
/ Turn up the style (not the heat) /
/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
/ Do it in public (not the car/plane) /
