TV TURN-OFF: Desperate Spice! Mel C resorts to using QVC to sell her album

Because rubbish TV and rubbish albums shouldn’t cost the planet…

Turning your TV completely off rather than leaving it on standby might be a pain in the arse (given that you have to actually get up out of your chair to do it), but it will save you loads of cash and help preserve your TV for longer. As a gentle reminder not to leave your TV on stand by here’s TV turn-off of the week: A TV lowlight that proves that sometimes the only way is not Essex… it’s the OFF button…

We all love a cheeky bit of Viva Forever and Spice up your Life in the shower, do we not? A little nostalgic sing-song in the morning never hurt anyone!

Unfortunately, the phrase ‘quitting while you’re ahead’ wasn’t enough to stop a certain former Spice Girl from a recent attempt to re-launch herself as a ‘serious musician’…

Earlier this week poor Melanie C was reduced to flogging her latest album Stages on the QVC shopping channel.

As the latest single from her album failed to earn itself any radio airtime, Mel C decided she would use an alternative strategy to ensure her album reached your Christmas stocking safe and sound (remember to hide your nan’s remote the next time you visit!).

Performing a cover of Joni Mitchell’s Both Sides Now in her trendy ensemble of black trousers, a swishy white shirt and a lot of perfecting hand gestures, Mel C’s singing isn’t actually half bad, but ultimately she did make us cringe quite a bit.

We’re glad to see Mel C is still happy with her decision though, as she said on Twitter: “Flippin’ heck doing QVC caused quite a stir!!! #bovvered”

Mel isn’t the first failing musician to use QVC to boost sales: Steps have also used the shopping channel in the past, but we’re wondering why Sporty Spice didn’t look into their dismal success rates with it first!

Here she is in action (get ready to cringe!)…
