Because festival season doesn’t have to cost the Earth…

Eminem and Biffy Clyro

This summer we’ll once again be helping you find the easiest ways to Do It In Public on the festival circuit, ditching the car and taking public transport instead for the ultimate festival experience. And even if you’re not going to be able to make it to the festival, at least you can still enjoy the music on your way to (sigh) work. And August 23 can only mean one thing… It’s time for Reading Festival and Leeds Festival 2013…

The festival
It’s time for Reading and Leeds Festivals again, and the line up will not disappoint this year: ft. Green Day, Eminem, Biffy Clyro, Foals, The Lumineers, Skrillex, Alt J, Azealia Banks and Frank Turner, to name but a few!

Prepare yourself for countless food and drink tents and an array of late night entertainment. Buttoned Down Disco (aka Silent Disco) at Reading Festival is back, open 9pm till 3am each night, and Leeds have been given us the go ahead to keep some of the campsite DJs, Piccadilly Party and SilentArena on until even later. Both Reading and Leeds offer amazing Cinema Tents showing films from midnight to 3am on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday!

Getting there
One of the easiest ways of getting you and your friends to either festival is by coach. The coach pick up points and the time of your pick ups will be printed on your coach ticket and will take you right into the festival site. So why not take the hassle out of getting there, not to mention parking, and just chill out with National Express? Book now online here.

Alternatively, leave your car at home, not your friends – take the train to the Leeds Festival with First TransPennine Express, and Reading with First Great Western. There’s no need to fight over seats in the car and there’s much more room on the train too for everyone to start the festival celebrations from the minute you leave home. Book shuttle bus for Reading onlines or just pay on the day. Check out more info about the Leeds Festival shuttle buses now too.

Travel light tip
There’s no need to haul bags of food and drink all the way to the festival. At Reading there are two on site supermarkets selling snacks, toiletries, groceries, cigarettes, alcohol and more. You can even use your card for purchases over £5 and get cash back too. Leeds has a supermarket too selling everything you could need, including bacon, sausages and bread – the perfect festival hangover cure!

Grooving while you’re moving
What better way to Do It In Public on the way to Reading Festival and Leeds Festival than with our playlist of the best tracks from some of the headliners – including Green Day, Eminem, Biffy Clyro, Foals, The Lumineers, Skrillex, Alt J, Azealia Banks, Frank Turner and many, many more. Subscribe to our Reading and Leeds Festival 2013 playlist to get grooving while you’re moving.

And here’s Eminem in action now with Lose Yourself

GC articles show you one of four ways (the one in bold) to live greener…

/ Be a winner (not a binner) /
/ Turn up the style (not the heat) /
/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
/ Do it in public (not the car/plane) /
