This week we were lucky enough to join Sofar Sounds for another adventure! After almost…just almost…getting lost in a dark alley in Golders Green, we were welcomed into the home of Mo and his flat mates. An open fire, a ping-pong table, an adorable dog donning a Mohawk – and of course three great musical acts – awaited our arrival.

First up was Meadowlark, a duo made up of the lovely Kate McGill and Daniel Broadley. With quiet angelic vocals and emotive lyrics, their short but sweet set practically hypnotized the entire room. Our favourite tracks were I Got You and Family Tree, both of which can be found on band’s debut EP Three Six Five (2014).

Take a listen to Family Tree below…

Next up was solo artist Sam Griffiths all the way from York. This young singer-songwriter entertained us with beautiful original songs, including Drunken Ukulele Songbook and A Noise Such As You – both of which can be downloaded for free via his SoundCloud page.

His cover of Blondie’s Heart of Glass was the absolute best…catch it below…

And then there was Will And The People.  What can we say…these guys gave us a show! This four-piece band, made up of Will Rendle, Jim Ralphs, Jamie Rendle and Charlie Harman, kept up the jamming and laughing throughout their brilliant set. Our particular favourites were Formula and Jekyll & Hyde, off the band’s up-coming album Whistleblower (2015)

For a more visual picture…imagine Hanson wearing scarecrow-esque clothing, playing tunes on acoustic guitars and giving the room tips on the best cowbells to use for stellar melodic sounds.

Check them out for yourself in Lion In The Morning Sun below…

And don’t forget to check out Global Cool’s Music Radar Spotify playlist to keep up to date with the hottest new music when you’re on the bus/train/tube to work….

GC articles show you one of four ways (the one in bold) to live greener…
/ Be a winner (not a binner) /
/ Turn up the style (not the heat) /
/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
/ Do it in public (not the car/plane) /
