Sometimes music is so emotionally charged that it’s impossible to listen to a track without dropping straight into the headspace of the artist (cue a tear or two). This weeks picks are two artists whose music is filled with absolute feels…

First up are an up-and-coming band called Seafret. Jack Sedman and Harry Draper met when they were younger, living in a small town in North East England. Their sound is captivating, their chemistry unquestionable. These two musicians have grown together, finding their sound through writing and playing together before Seafret was born.

Inspired by their home and their lives evolving around them, they have created something wonderful. Think James Bay, Daniel James and a bit of Kill It Kid in there. Their debut EP Give Me Something was released in 2014, take a listen to the title track. Following soon after, Seafret released Oceans (2015), which includes a stellar track of the same name. Take a look at the stunning video below, starring Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams (a.k.a Arya Stark)…

For our next pick we are quite literally going to throw down the gauntlet and declare her and her band the best acoustic live performance we have ever seen. Brandi Carlile and her band finally came to London this past week to play at the utterly spectacular Union Chapel in Islington. We knew she was going to be good, we love her music, but we were not prepared for this incredible singer-songwriter from Seattle, WA, to turn us into emotional wrecks…in the best of ways.

Since beginning her career in 2004, she has released five studio albums including The Story (2007), Give Up The Ghost (2009) and Bear Creek (2012). Her highly anticipated sixth album, The Firewatcher’s Daughter, is due to be released in March this year. We cannot stress enough that this artist’s music is unreal, but you will have to listen to understand. Don’t miss tracks The Story, That Year, That Wasn’t Me and The Eye. Our pick is Before It Breaks…take a listen below…

GC articles show you one of four ways (the one in bold) to live greener…
/ Be a winner (not a binner) /
/ Turn up the style (not the heat) /
/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
/ Do it in public (not the car/plane) /
