This week it’s all about absolutely stellar singer-songwriters, who are taking trips, making music and generally just stealing our ears and hearts with their creative talent.

First up is Rose Betts, an absolute goddess in the most British way possible. Born and raised in England, in a large musical family, she’s travelled the world, delighting in all the sounds the world has to offer. Rose Betts has become a maestro at playing the piano, guitar and singing with such crisp, familial vocals it’s alarming.

It’s hard not to make the popular Regina Spektor comparison… they may have a similar style/sound (somewhere between cool-chick folk-pop-vocal-jazz) but Betts offers something different. Don’t miss her debut single, I Can Never Give My Heart, released this year and which will soon be followed by a full EP. We love her track, Away From The Storm, but our top pick is definitely Make It Home. Check out the video below…

Next up is the one and only, painfully glamorously cool Slow Club. We straight up dig these two. Charles Watson and Rebecca Taylor are two multi-talented, multi-instrumentalists with multiple tracks that we cannot help but swoon over. The duo came together in Sheffield in 2006 and have since released multiple singles, two EPs and three studio albums. Touring around Europe, UK, US, Australia and Asia, Slow Club have been nailing it with awesome live performances and a unique sound that is somewhat old school somewhat new school.

Having opened for the likes of Mumford and Sons and Florence and the Machine, we have no doubt Slow Club are heading nowhere but up. We have a long list of favourites… Beginners, Cousins, Complete Surrender, The Queen’s Nose, but Suffering You, Suffering Me is our pick for this week. Take a look and listen to the video below…

And don’t forget to check out Global Cool’s Music Radar Spotify playlist to keep up to date with the hottest new music when you’re on the bus/train/tube to work….

frankensteinHere comes the science bit…

GC articles show you one of four ways (the one in bold) to live greener…
/ Be a winner (not a binner) /
/ Turn up the style (not the heat) /
/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
/ Do it in public (not the car/plane) /
