It has been a mad week of music for us here at Global Cool. We found ourselves at many a gig and with many a talented artists to choose from as this week’s musical wonders. Spoilt. For. Choice!

Nothing quite beats a gig in a church though…which is exactly where we found ourselves a few days ago. We caught the second Communion New Faces tour of 2014 in the beautiful St Stephen’s Church in Shepherd’s Bush, London.

First to take the stage, or rather the pulpit, was Pixel Fix. This four-piece band sound suspiciously like some cool kids from Los Angeles, but are in fact from Oxford. They kicked off the show with a bang…playing tracks off their self-titled debut EP, Pixel Fix (2013), as well as the two brilliant EPs they released this year, Fall and Running Thin. With R&B, ambient pop, indie and electronic influences there is no denying this band has something unique. Take a listen to our pick, Lungs, below…

Next up was the delightful Kimberly Anne (above left). This singer-songwriter from South East London has an incredible voice. Her crisp but warming vocals, coupled with some guitar playing and percussion, created a beautiful sound that kept us smiling and grooving throughout her set. She loves a chat, and is nothing if not authentic…made entirely relatable by her thoughtful lyrics. Side note…how cool is her hair!

With three EPs out now, including Bury It There (2013), Hard As Hello (2013) and Liar (2014), there is plenty to feast your ears on. Our pick from this loveable artist is Bury It There

Following on was unique Fyfe (above right) is the new musical project name of Paul Dixon (previously known under the name of David’s Lyre). This singer-songwriter and guitarist has created a truly distinctive sound with Fyfe. Difficult to categorize, even by those like us who love an adjective.

Rather take a listen and decide for yourself…all we know is that we are really liking it! A track not to miss is one off his 2013 Remixes EP titled Solace. Our pick, For You, is a smooth and dreamy track that we have shared below for your enjoyment…

Closing the show were the one and only Amber Run. The name probably sounds familiar because we’ve shown these boys some love before on Music Radar, and so we’ll encourage you to look back and check out their beautiful tunes if you’ve missed them.

And don’t forget to check out Global Cool’s Music Radar Spotify playlist to keep up to date with the hottest new music when you’re on the bus/train/tube to work….

GC articles show you one of four ways (the one in bold) to live greener…

/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
/ Do it in public (not the car/plane) /
