Jack GarrattWe are a nostalgic bunch here at Global Cool. I mean, who doesn’t get nostalgic, at this time of year? This week we’ve been listening to some classic personal playlists…the Summer of ‘09… and of course the classic Chill Out playlist we must have created one miserable Sunday.

And if there was anyone we were to say defined 2014 music for us it’s the one and only Jack Garratt (pictured right)…

This past week we caught up with Jack at The Edition Hotel, London, where he played a gig hosted by Communion Music. Before we express our enduring love for one of the nicest and most talented people we have ever met, let’s talk about his support!

Opening for Jack were 80s sounding pop band Fickle Friends (pictured above). After seeing them play at KOKO a few weeks back at a Club NME night (a good shout for a Friday), we were more than happy to see them again! This five piece band from Brighton have it all going on…the sound, the vocals, the look! Check out their single Swim (2014) and take a listen to our favourite, Play (2014), below…

And so onto Mr Jack Garratt…

We first saw Jack play in a church at Bushstock Festival, needless to say it was incredible. His music is soulful, raw, inspired and downright matchless. This singer and multi-instrumentalist is going to be huge.

We could go on forever, but do yourself a favour and get a hold of his debut EP Remnants (2014). In this case we prefer to let the music speak for itself. Take a listen to the track of the year (well our year) Worry

And don’t forget to check out Global Cool’s Music Radar Spotify playlist to keep up to date with the hottest new music when you’re on the bus/train/tube to work….

frankensteinHere comes the science bit…

GC articles show you one of four ways (the one in bold) to live greener…
/ Be a winner (not a binner) /
/ Turn up the style (not the heat) /
/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
/ Do it in public (not the car/plane) /
