As the seasons change and life continues to throw us all curve balls, it’s only natural to go through moments of high euphoria… just to be pulled down to earth by a drench of melancholy. This week’s picks are the perfect companion…

First up are a five-piece rock/electro/indie band from North London. HAUS, made up of Sam Kelly, Daniel Hylton-Nuamah, Lyle Simpson, Ellis Mortimer and Ashley Mulimba, have been slowing growing as a band since a few of the members met and began their collaborative creative project at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. We’d like to say they sound a bit like so-and-so or have clearly been influenced by such-and-such…but we genuinely can’t seem to find a befitting reference.

In saying that, the sound they have created is alarmingly nostalgic – like we’ve heard it before, like we’ve dreamed before. We highly recommend you take a listen to their debut EP Bless. We love their track February, but Ceasefire is definitely our sprightly favourite…

Next up is our new obsession, Australian born singer-songwriter Josef Salvat. Now based in London, this game changer appeared on the musical scene almost out of nowhere with his debut single This Life. Salvat followed up the hype with his debut EP In Your Prime (2014) which included his stellar (dare we say preferred) cover of Rhianna’s track Diamonds.

With wry, forlorn lyrics and wonderfully smooth electro-pop sound, Salvat has been compared to the likes our lady love Lana Del Rey and legend Morrissey. We like it. Take a listen to Open Season, Hustler, Shoot and Run and This Life. Do not miss our favorite track below, titled Every Night…

And don’t forget to check out Global Cool’s Music Radar Spotify playlist to keep up to date with the hottest new music when you’re on the bus/train/tube to work….

frankensteinHere comes the science bit…

GC articles show you one of four ways (the one in bold) to live greener…
/ Be a winner (not a binner) /
/ Turn up the style (not the heat) /
/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
/ Do it in public (not the car/plane) /
