We can’t say it enough. Music makes everything better. Including navigating through this very random time of year when it’s not quite freezing and not quite Christmas and nothing is quite making sense to anybody. And so of course we have picked two brilliant artists to fill in the silence…

First up is a five-member band from the sunnier city of Los Angeles, California. Milo Greene have an indie-pop-folk sound that is jolting to the bones, at the same time as being entirely calming. It’s the lyrics to their songs, and the fact that four of the five multi-instrumentalists act as lead vocals, that sets this band apart. Each track is original, but together it feels as if they are linked in a continuing human story.

Check out Silent Way, off the band’s self-titled debut album (2012), and White Lies off their upcoming album Control, which is due to come out early 2015. Our pick is 1975, a wonder of a song that we have quite literally been playing on repeat over the past few days. Check out the beautiful video below…

Our next pick for this week is an absolute treasure of a band from Reading. The Parades are made up of Dan Bartlett, Callum Walton and Andy Burge, the perfect team of vocals, bass, drums and guitar. Their sound is a pop/funk/rock mix that is nothing short of infectious…inspiring one to live in the moment and most definitively dance.

Take a listen to their track In The Moment, off their single of the same name and keep looking out for more from these guys. We won’t have to wait long as their new EP is due to come out in March, featuring another excellent track called Echoes In The Night. Our favourite is Swim Through The Waves, listen below…

And don’t forget to check out Global Cool’s Music Radar Spotify playlist to keep up to date with the hottest new music when you’re on the bus/train/tube to work….

frankensteinHere comes the science bit…

GC articles show you one of four ways (the one in bold) to live greener…
/ Be a winner (not a binner) /
/ Turn up the style (not the heat) /
/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
/ Do it in public (not the car/plane) /
