Because festival season doesn’t have to cost the Earth…
The Rolling Stones

This summer we’ll once again be helping you find the easiest ways to Do It In Public on the festival circuit, ditching the car and taking public transport instead for the ultimate festival experience. And even if you’re not going to be able to make it to the festival, at least you can still enjoy the music on your way to (sigh) work. And June 26 can only mean one thing… Glastonbury …

The festival
It’s Glasto time of year again and the line up this year is amazing: from The Rolling Stones to Cat Power, there’s something for everyone. We also adore the Green Glastonbury section on the website, including the Love the farm, leave no trace initiative. Everyone travelling to Glastonbury 2013 by public transport or bike will be eligible for our Green Traveller iniative – giving them discounts on meals and merchandise and the chance to win some amazing prizes (including watching a show from the side of the Pyramid Stage).

Getting there
Nearly a third of all ticket holders now come to the site on coachestrains and other forms of public transport. If you are travelling by train, the best railway station to reach the festival is Castle Cary. There’s a free shuttle bus for festival ticket holders running between the train station and the festival bus station too. This year Glasto are encouraging more people to come to the festival by bike, and have provided cyclists with a camping field. If you are coming from within 20 miles Tor200 will pick up your luggage from your nearest town and it will be waiting for you at the festival when you arrive on your bicycle. If you really have to go by car you can register with Lift Share and jump in someone else’s car or put your car up for sharing to the festival.

Travel light tip
Nobody wants to lug masses of bags en route to a festival. And with all the great amenities at Glastonbury there really is no need to give yourself back ache or waste money on parking. Glastonbury festival has you covered from food and drink to spiritual support. For all the festival’s facilities click here.

What better way to Do It In Public on the way to Glasto than with our playlist of the best tracks from some of the headliners – including The Rolling Stones, Arctic Monkeys, Mumford & Sons, Dizzee Rascal, Primal Scream, Portishead, Chase and Status, The XX and many, many more . GC articles show you one of four ways (the one in bold) to live greener…

/ Be a winner (not a binner) /
/ Turn up the style (not the heat) /
/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
/ Do it in public (not the car/plane) /
