Russell BrandSo, who is he?
If you’ve been anywhere near the internet or a newspaper recently you’ll have heard of Russell Brand. But just incase you’ve been living under a rock we’ll give you the low down…

Russell Brand is a tv presenter turned comedian turned actor turned controversial public speaker. He’s been in movies such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Arthur. And he also got hitched once to Katy Perry (followed by a swift divorce).

Impressive. What else do I need to know?
Here are two fun facts about Russell Brand: He used to be a postman and he also once auditioned for the boyband 5ive!

So, he’s a cool guy, but why is he a Global Cool guy?
We’ve liked Russ for a while for his animal-loving ways. More recently though he’s made headlines after a very interesting stint on Newsnight. During an interview with Jeremy Paxman, Brand stirred up some controversy with his political opinions. Whether you agreed or disagreed with his views, you have to admit he did have some pretty good points about the state of the planet.

Brand mused: “The measures that are currently being taken around climate changes are indifferent… Only systems that serve the planet and serve the population of the planet should be allowed to survive…. The time is now. This movement is already occurring. It’s already happening everywhere. We’re in a time when communication is instantaneous and there are communities all over the world taking action… There’s going to be a revolution. It’s totally going to happen. I ain’t got a flicker of doubt. This is the end. This is time to wake up.”

We couldn’t agree more. It’s time to stand up and realised that the time to change is now. Your planet needs you. Viva la revolución!
