School of Cool #97: How to be the Prince of the planet like Charles

on in Entertainment

Because being cool doesn’t have to cost the Earth…

Prince CharlesSo, who is he?
We’re hoping that’s not a serious question. After all the royal events in the past few years, we’re pretty sure most people know who Prince Charles is. You may have noticed his son Will marrying K-Mid last year, or his dear old mum skydiving with James Bond at the Olympic Games. Perhaps you saw his other son Harry pictured naked in Vegas (oo-er). Yeah, us Brits have a pretty cool Royal family…

Impressive. What else do I need to know?
At just 3 years old Elizabeth II became Queen and Charles was bestowed with a whole load of royal titles including the Duke of Cornwall, Duke of Rothesay, Earl of Carrick, Baron of Renfrew, Lord of the Isles and Prince and Great Steward of Scotland, in addition to being a prince of the UK. That’s a lot of names for a kid fresh out of diapers!

He’s a cool man, but why is he a Global Cool man?
Prince Charles has been an eco-warrior for quite some time now and even has his own green charity called The Prince’s Rainforest Group which acts to save the world’s threatened forests.

He is often very outspoken about the importance of being green, expressing concerns to MPs in Brussels and speaking at the Rio+20 UN sustainability conference.

Earlier this month The Prince of Wales did a solid for the planet by voicing his fears on This Morning. He told the programme: “We don’t, in a sensible world, want to hand on an increasingly dysfunctional world to our grandchildren, to leave them with the real problem.

“I don’t want to be confronted by my future grandchild and [have] them say: ‘Why didn’t you do something?’

With all the buzz surrounding Kate Middleton and Prince William‘s Royal Bump we’re glad to see someone speaking some eco-sense. Good on you Charles!

And because we know you want to see it again, here’s the Queen and Daniel Craig in action at the Olympics…

frankensteinHere comes the science bit…

GC articles show you one of four ways (the one in bold) to live greener…

/ Be a winner (not a binner) /
/ Turn up the style (not the heat) /
/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
/ Do it in public (not the car/plane) /
