Because living like a celeb doesn’t have to cost the Earth…

Emily Blunt and Snoop Dogg
Global Cool would like to give a warm welcome to our newest writer Rebecca Sellitti – one of the wittiest and prettiest gals we know. She’ll be bringing you the hottest gossip from the land of celeb each week – enjoy…

When Phoebe Tonkin’s not busy steaming up the screen on The Vampire Diaries, this painfully-beautiful actress devotes her time to maintaining Your Zen Life, a wellness blog dedicated to educating the public about the benefits of living a green and healthy existence. Run by Tonkin and fellow gorgeous Aussie, Teresa Palmer, this exquisitely-designed website offers readers everything from articles about the best natural skin care products on the market, to recipes for the most delicious vegetarian fare you will ever taste.

Miss Tonkin, a vegan herself, does an excellent job in providing fellow herbivores a continuous supply of new and mouth-watering meatless meals. On a personal note, I’m rather bitter that this woman is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside –  I mean, give us plebs SOMETHING!!

John Krasinski and Emily BluntMarry
Since John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are already hitched, rather than MARRY, I suppose the goal should be to enter a polygamous union with these two eco-celebs. This week, John and Emily are being honored for letting their green flag fly at the Metropolitan of Art Costume Institute Gala. While celebs like Mary-Kate Olsen chose to sport fur-trimmed bathrobes, Blunt decided to don an ethically conscious Carolina Herrera gown that was hand crafted using vintage, recycled fabrics.

The tall drink of water that Emily calls a husband followed her lead by wearing a Tom Ford tuxedo that was produced using OEKO-TEX® sustainable wool. Both actors donned their eco threads in support of Livia Firth’s Green Carpet Challenge and it’s great to see even more celebs jumping on the bandwagon. So, I’m giving two very enthusiastic green thumbs-up to this dashing duo!

A segway from Blunt to Snoop Dogg….that just seems too perfect! Now, Sir Dogg has never been known for living a particularly eco-friendly lifestyle, what with his collection of over 25 gas-guzzling cars, and his penchant for polluting the environment with wacky tobacky smoke. But, this week we are avoiding Snoop for pollution of another sort entirely…

The controversial rapper, famous for turning 70’s pimp-style into a personal fashion statement, recently admitted to having acted as an actual pimp while on tour back in 2003. Not wanting for money, Snoop stated that his decision to ‘sell women’ was done purely for his amusement. He claimed he just became “fascinated” and “enthralled” with the pimp lifestyle. I’d say I was disappointed in the newly Rasta-fied Calvin, but when someone has an arrest record as long as Snoop’s, you just have to learn to keep your expectations low!

And here’s a little parody of Snoop Dogg by Lenny Henry just to make you smile…

frankensteinHere comes the science bit…

GC articles show you a few ways (the ones in bold) to live greener…

/ Be a winner (not a binner) /
/ Turn up the style (not the heat) /
/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
/ Do it in public (not the car/plane) /
