School of Cool #123: How to be Crazy In Love (with the planet) like Beyonce and Jay-Z

on in Uncategorized

Because acting like a celeb doesn’t have to cost the Earth…

Beyonce and Jay-ZSo, who are they?
She shakes her bits and he raps about stuff, but Beyonce and Jay-Z  are actually one of the world’s most famous power couples too. In fact the Single Ladies hit-maker and rapper husband – who also owns record label Roc Nation – have topped Forbes magazine’s World’s Highest Paid Celebrity Couples list for the past two years.

They also have an adorable daughter called Blue-Ivy.

Impressive. What else do I need to know?
Jay-Z is the founder of the UN’s Water for Life, an organisation that works hard to get clean drinking water to people worldwide. He also works with Buffalo Boss in Brooklyn, which sells 100% organic chicken. Wifey Beyonce does her bit too by working for Second Harvest, a food bank network. The couple also own a New York gastro pub called The Spotted Pig which composts weekly, recycles and grows all the food locally.

So, they’re a cool couple, but why are they a Global Cool couple?
Jay-Z and Beyonce, have pledged to take a 22-day vegan challenge, ending on Christmas Day. Jay-Z announced it on his website Life + Times saying, “On December 3rd, one day before my 44th birthday I will embark on a 22 Days challenge to go completely vegan, or as I prefer to call it, plant-based!! This all began a few months back when a good friend and vegan challenged me to embrace a “plant-based breakfast” everyday. It was surprisingly easier on me than I thought…” And it seems Beyonce is joining in the fun too. We wonder if Blue-Ivy will be chowing down on some yummy vegan baby food too!

And now we’re kicking it old school with Beyonce and Jay-Z’s duet in Bonnie and Clyde. Enjoy..

frankensteinHere comes the science bit…

GC articles show you one of four ways (the one in bold) to live greener…

/ Be a winner (not a binner) /
/ Turn up the style (not the heat) /
/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
Do it in public (not the car/plane) /
